Day by Day
Tambora Open Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Sumbawa Besar – Pancasila Village
11.00 Meeting point at Sumbawa Besar Airport.
12.00 Journey continues to Pancasila Village. Lunch stop at a restaurant found along the way.
18.00 Arrive at Pancasila Village, register at the National Park office, then check in at the homestay.
19.00 Dinner around Pancasila Village, briefing for the climbing preparation, then rest.
Day 2: Climbing Mount Tambora
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
06.00 Morning call, breakfast, and trek preparation.
07.00 Start climbing towards the forest gate.
08.00 Arrive at Post 1, short break, then continue to Post 2 and Post 3.
12.00 Arrive at Post 3, rest and have lunch.
13.00 Continue the journey towards Post 4 and Post 5.
16.00 Arrive at Post 5, set up tents, free time, and rest.
17.00 Dinner with a briefing for the summit preparation, then rest.
Day 3: Climbing to the Peak of Mount Tambora
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
02.00 Morning call and preparation for the climb to the summit of Mount Tambora.
02.30 Start trekking towards the peak.
05.30 Arrive at the peak, enjoy the natural beauty and sunrise.
06.30 Descend back to Post 5, short break, pack belongings, and have breakfast.
08.00 Descend to Post 3.
11.00 Arrive at Post 3, rest and enjoy lunch.
16.00 Arrive at Post 1, pack tents, rest, and free time.
19.00 Dinner
Day 4: Return to Sumbawa Besar City
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
06.00 Wake up and prepare to descend to Pancasila Village.
08.00 After breakfast, continue the journey to Pancasila Village.
11.00 Arrive at Pancasila Village, rest, clean up, and have lunch.
13.00 Journey continues back to Sumbawa Besar City.
19.00 Arrive at Sumbawa Besar City, dinner, and you will be escorted to your accommodation around Sumbawa Besar City. Program ends.
The above itinerary is flexible, depending on conditions in the field.
It is highly recommended to warm up before starting the climb at least 7 days beforehand (jogging and going up and down stairs)
It is not advisable to participate in the Tambora trekking program for participants who have respiratory problems, coronary heart disease, epilepsy, high blood pressure, indications of vertigo, and other serious illnesses.

Important Notes!
- Every Tambora Open Trip program is handled directly by one guide and several porters.
- The number of porters used is adjusted to the number of participants, with the following details:
- 2 – 4 participants use 2 porters
- 5 – 6 participants use 3 porters
- 7 – 8 participants use 4 porters
- 9 – 10 participants use 5 porters
- As for the transportation from the pick-up point to Pancasila Village, we use:
- 1 – 4 participants use an Avanza
- 5 – 6 participants use an Innova
- 7 – 8 participants use 2 Avanza units
- 9 – 10 participants use 2 Innova units
Term & Conditions
- The price above applies with no minimum number of participants. Even with only 1 person, the open trip will still run.
- Participant registration is made by paying a down payment of 30% and the remainder is settled on the first day of the tour program
- Every participant who registers will be added to a WhatsApp group to make communication easier between The Langkah Travel Team and the Tambora open trip participants.
- Participants who have not paid the down payment are considered not yet registered and are not yet added to the WhatsApp group.
- The down payment that has been transferred by a participant is forfeited if the cancellation is made at the participant’s own request.
- Participants who cancel their open trip may find a replacement, provided that the replacement is found by the cancelling participant themselves.
- If the cancellation happens due to Force Majeure or because we cancel it ourselves, we will refund 100% of the participant’s down payment.
- Prospective participants are considered to understand and agree to all the terms above.

- Personal clothing + spares; warm clothing (sweater, etc.) & long trousers (as needed)

- Trekking shoes & sandals (sturdy shoes that are not too tight)
- Thick socks, gloves, head cover & field hat
- Sunglasses & sunblock (if available)
- Additional personal food and drinks
- Personal medicine & tiger balm / muscle spray (for muscle pain)

Payment is made by sending a down payment of 30% and the balance can be transferred on the first day of the tour program.
