The chance to encounter Whale Sharks remains high, as this trip takes place in their natural habitat during the active season in Saleh Bay, Sumbawa.
Sumbawa Whale Shark Open Trip Itinerary
04.00 Early morning meeting point in Labuan Jambu Village, Tarano District, Sumbawa (you should be here the day before and spend the night at a local homestay)
04.30 Brief briefing with our guide then take a local fishing boat to Saleh Bay Area
06.00 Arrive in the middle of the waters of Teluk Saleh then look for “BAGANG” where the whale shark appears. If you have met, the boat will lean on the Bagang
06.30 Prepare and start swimming with the Whale Shark (the duration of the appearance of the Whale Shark can range from 1 – 2 hours)
07.30 Simple breakfast on the boat
08.30 Heading back to Labuan Jambu Village
10.00 Arrive at Labuan Jambu Village. Program completed
We cannot go against nature — therefore, if upon arrival at the location you are not fortunate enough to see the Whale Sharks, we will refund IDR 250,000 per person

Term & Conditions
- Participant registration is confirmed by paying a down payment (DP) of IDR 350,000, no later than one day before the selected departure date.
- The remaining balance of IDR 400,000 can be settled on the trip day, directly with our team on site.
- Each participant who registers will be included in the whatsapp group to facilitate communication between The Langkah Travel Team and Whale Shark open trip participants.
- Participants who have not paid the payment are considered to have not registered and have not been included in the WhatsApp group.
- The payment that has been transferred by the participant will be forfeited if the cancellation occurs at the participant’s own will.
- Participants who cancel the open trip are allowed to find a replacement on the condition that the replacement participant is searched for by the canceled participant.
- If the cancellation occurs because of the Force Majeure or because it is canceled by us, we will refund 100% of the participant’s payment.
- Prospective participants are deemed to understand and agree to all of the above requirements.

Can i pay on the spot?
Sorry, we do not accept on-the-spot payments. To reserve your slot, you must make full payment before the program. Our service aims to allow you to arrive on D-Day and start the trip without worrying about payment!
When should I be in Labuan Jambu Village?
The trip starts at 04.00 in the morning, so it is highly recommended that you be in Labuan Jambu Village one day before.

Where exactly is the location of the meeting point in Labuan Jambu Village?

Do you have any suggestions on how to get to Sumbawa Island from Lombok?
You can use public transportation from Mataram City, Lombok, to Sumbawa Besar City, which is approximately a 6-7 hour journey. You can search for public transportation options by using the keyword “Panca Sari Travel” on Google.
Once you arrive in Sumbawa Besar City, you will need to find a way to reach Labuan Jambu Village. Here are a few alternatives:
- Charter a vehicle with a cost of IDR 1,000,000 and stay in Labuan Jambu Village. This price includes a return trip to Sumbawa Besar City after your trip.
- Stay overnight in Sumbawa Besar City, then head to Labuan Jambu Village at 01:00 AM in the early morning to reach the meeting point. For this option, you can use our service at a cost of IDR 250,000 per person and join other participants who also choose this option. (For this option, you do not need to book a hotel in Labuan Jambu).
What equipment do i need?
We provide all the equipment you need (snorkel, mask and fins), but feel free to bring your own
We also suggest bringing ear plugs because of the loud sound of the boat’s engine that will be used to go to the Whale Shark location (tourism is not yet developed so that the facilities and infrastructure are still quite minimal)

Payment is made by sending a down payment of 30% and the balance can be transferred on the first day of the tour program.
