Agal Waterfall is one of the finest natural attractions on Sumbawa Island, tucked away in Beru Hamlet, Marente Village, Alas, in Sumbawa Regency. Getting there takes some extra effort, but the beauty waiting at the end makes every step worth it.
How to Get to Agal Waterfall

Reaching Beru Hamlet in Marente Village takes about 1.5 hours by motor vehicle from the town of Sumbawa Besar. The journey doesn’t end there, because from Beru Hamlet you carry on on foot for roughly two hours.
The trek opens with a river crossing, the water cool and crystal clear. If you enjoy being in the water, locals here also run river tubing along this stretch. It makes a fun warm-up before you push on toward the waterfall.
Trekking Through the Forest of Mount Agal

Once past the river, the trail narrows into a footpath through the dense forest of Mount Agal. The scenery along the way is a treat for the eyes. Towering green trees, birdsong, and cool fresh air keep you company for the full two-hour walk.
The route is demanding, but the effort pays off with an extraordinary view at the end of the trail.
The Beauty of Agal Waterfall

Arriving at Agal Waterfall, you are met with a view that is hard to forget. The falls drop in 10 tiers, ranging from 30 to 300 meters in height. Water spilling off the cliffs threads between huge boulders, creating a scene that is both calming and spectacular.
It is easy to see why so many people call Agal Waterfall a hidden gem. This place delivers a completely different kind of trip, far from the crowds and full of raw natural beauty.
Other Spots Around Mount Agal

Agal is not the only waterfall in the area. Mount Agal also hides others, among them Seketok Waterfall and Sebra Waterfall. If your schedule allows, exploring them makes an equally rewarding addition to the day. One day hardly feels like enough to take in everything around here.
