Sunset runs deep for a lot of people. Plenty of travellers refuse to miss it wherever they go, and Lombok has a handful of spots for taking in that beautiful moment when the sun goes down.
Gazing at the orange glow over the western sky with a beautiful landscape in front of you is the kind of moment you will not forget on this small, lovely island. This sunset spot is easy to combine with the other Kuta destinations on a Lombok daily tour.
One sunset spot that still stays fairly quiet is Bukit Hatory (Hatory Hill). The hill sits within the area of Seger Beach, also known as Mandalika Beach, in the Pujut district of Central Lombok, and it is easy enough to reach from Lombok International Airport.
The journey takes roughly 45 minutes. For an entrance fee of only 5,000 rupiah, you get the whole stretch of beach ringed by beautiful hills.
Before heading up the hill, spend some time on the beach first. Seger Beach has clean white sand and waves that never get too big, so it is safe for a swim. Once you have had your fill, make the short climb up Bukit Hatory.
The grass is green and the top of the hill is wide open, so you can stretch out and watch the sun drop away beside it. Crowds are thin here, which makes the mood a genuinely romantic one. It is a fine place for solo travellers to sit and think, and just as fitting for couples on honeymoon.
There are no vendors up here selling food or drinks yet, so bring enough supplies with you, drinking water above all. After the sunset you can check into one of the hotels around Kuta Beach, which is not far away. So what are you waiting for? Come and enjoy the sunset at Bukit Hatory with us.
